When we brought Cricket in, she kept trying to get out for about a week and still seemed interested in the idea for about three weeks. Now it's been about three months and she likes to look outside, but she does not seem interested in going out anymore. I'd say the worst of it was over in a week.

I'm not sure, ours still darts outside when given the chance, and we adopted him in Oct. 2023.

It helps if your kitty has lots of stimulation and exercise and places to be alone or explore inside, and maybe a catio, if at all possible. Good luck!

She's not in heat, is she?

I used a water bottle with a good squirt stream. Trainers hate that, but it worked . 1 squirt to his butt, got his attention, then called his name and gave treat ( for coming) he used to sit by the door and then try to escape ( almost took out a screen door) if he got within 6 ft of door, squirt! After a couple weeks, I just needed to give treat. Became the best companion for the next 10 years.

And she has the nerve to taunt me with this!

I tried to keep a cat in. He took a huge shit in the middle of my bed. Bye Kitty!

Is she spayed? That definitely helps. Please don’t squirt her with water. That only teaches her to fear you. Play with her before bedtime to try to tire her.

I adopted my cat, who had either been lost or abandoned for some time before he came to me, from my apartment complex. It took him probably a week or so. My vet recommended I break his feeding into three times and have the last one be as late as possible, then play with him. That seemed to do the trick. (A few months later, we moved to a new apartment and he never asked to go outside again.)

Is she fixed yet? Hopefully that would settle her down.
